Durable aluminium spreader plate for installing warm water underfloor heating over suspending or joisted floors. Designed for standard output systems using 200mm pipe centres.
Each plate measures 1000mm x 395mm. For standard 400mm joists.
Our 500 micron (0.5mm) aluminium spreader plate offers a straightforward solution to installing wet underfloor heating between timber joist floors where screeding is not possible. The spreader plates sit on top of the joists and nailed in place using flat head nails or screws. Pipe is pushed into the omega shaped grooves for a tight and secure fit.
How do they work?
The warm water inside the underfloor heating pipe heats the metal plates across its entire surface. This even spread of heat is then transferred across the underside of the flooring and up into the room. This method of underfloor heating was very little warm up time meaning you will start to feel the heat in the room quickly after turning it on. At just 0.5mm thick, aluminium spreader plates are unobtrusive to any floor height increase making them a great option for retro fit projects across timber joist.
Installation overview:
50mm foil backed insulation is fixed between each joist leaving a 20mm gap from the top. The heat plates are then laid onto the joists and nailed in place. The underfloor heating pipe is pushed into the omega shaped grooves for a firm hold. Cover with a structural deck or flooring to complete (see illustration).
